Description

Brown mustard seeds are hot, aromatic, and bitter. They can be used in mustard, salad dressings, mayonnaise, and many sauces. Whole mustard seeds have little aroma but once ground the flavor comes to life. Using cold water with your mustard seeds will create a hot, bitter, acrid, and pungent flavor. Warm water will reduce the bitterness. These sharp whole mustard seeds are preferred to their yellow counterparts in many Indian and African dishes due to their hotter, more pungent flavor. In most recipes, black and brown mustard seeds are interchangeable. Use mustard seeds instead of black pepper to spice up curries, stir-fries, salads and vegetables.
