DRIED CHIVES

Description

Dried chives are rich in vitamins A and C, and even though they are members of the onion family, their flavor is milder than onions. They are delicious on salads, potatoes, soups, and sauces, and their color provides beauty to your culinary dishes.

Dried chives can be used in place of fresh chives. 1 tablespoon fresh chives is equal to 1 teaspoon dried.

These can be rehydrated easily, just a small amount of moisture is needed. You can mix these with avocados, sour cream, butter, soup, eggs and more to easily add that fresh chive taste to your dishes. Chives are of course a staple on and with potatoes or potato dishes.

They can be sprinkled on scrambled eggs, deviled eggs, baked potatoes. mashed potatoes and other dishes to add color and a little bit of flavor. Chives can be used in many recipes in place of onions when you might desire a more milder flavor. Try substituting dried chives for onions in a stuffing recipe, or adding these to your soups or sprinkling over a salad. They are are very versatile herb. We recommend putting chives in later during the cooking process to preserve the flavor.
