SDS and Product Safety Statement
All products manufactured and distributed by Rocky Mountain Spice Company are “foods” regulated under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. All Rocky Mountain Spice Co. products and the ingredients comprising these products are in compliance with the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and applicable Food and Drug Administration regulations.
These products do not fall within the category of “hazardous chemicals” as the term is defined in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Communication Rule, 29 CFR 1910.1200. As such, the special labeling and warning required under the OSHA Rule are not required for these products because they are considered as “food”, as that term is defined in the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Accordingly, Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are not required under the OSHA Rule for most Rocky Mountain Spice Co. products. SDS sheets will be provided for items that require special handling upon receipt of product.
It should be noted that misuse or inadequate handling of granulated products and powders could create potentially hazardous conditions. Due to the physical properties of these products, care should be taken to avoid processing methods and handling techniques that result in the formation of dust from these products. If the products are mishandled in a fashion that creates airborne dust, under certain temperature and humidity conditions the resultant mixture may be explosive in the presence of an open flame, spark, or other ignition source. The airborne dust resulting from mishandling may also be an irritant to some persons present in the work area.
Please contact us if you have any additional questions regarding the proper handling and storage of our products.
