Maddie’s Baking Powder Biscuits
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour from myspicer
2 tablespoons white sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder from myspcier
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar from myspicer
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 egg
2/3 cup milk

Directions
Preheat an oven to 450 degrees
Mix with a wooden spoon in a large bowl: flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt.
Add vegetable shortening to mixture and use a pastry cutter to chop coarse crumbs.
Whisk egg and milk together in a separate bowl.
Slowly add milk mixture to flour mixture, stirring as you pour, until dough is moistened and well-mixed.
Drop dough on a baking sheet in medium sized round balls.
Bake in the preheated oven until biscuits have risen and are a nice light yellowish brown, color. Approximately 10 to 12 minutes, checking regularly.
Number of Servings: 10 – 15 depending on size desired.
