CORIANDER (WHOLE)

Description

Whole Coriander seeds taste sweet and peppery at the same time, and their smell reminds us of orange peel. Coriander seeds are delicious in curries, chutneys, vegetables, and meat and poultry dishes.

There are approximately 4.7 cups of whole coriander in one pound.

Coriander is unique in that it is considered to be both an herb and a spice because the plant produces both of these. The leaf of the coriander plant is the herb cilantro, while the seed of the coriander plant is the spice coriander.

Toasting whole coriander seeds will bring out more of the aromatic flavor. If your recipe calls for cracked or crushed coriander, buy whole coriander and do this yourself for a fresh taste.
